Even during the best of times, many in Atlanta struggle with food insecurity. Even for those more fortunate, being quarantined at home or dealing with an illness in the household can limit your access to fresh food and shelf-stable groceries. At the Department of City Planning, we’ve developed this list of resources for free food and paid grocery delivery. Consider making a donation!

On this page are resources for:

- Free and reduced-price food access

- Paid options for food and grocery delivery

- Information on Atlanta’s Farmers’ Markets

FARMERS’ MARKETS DURING COVID-19

To ensure that Atlanta residents continue to have access to fresh food during the COVID-19 pandemic, an Executive Order has declared farms, farmers’ markets, and farm stands to be essential businesses and the City of Atlanta is allowing permitted farmers’ markets to continue operation during the “Stay at Home” order.

Grat_bot_Farm7_edited.jpg

At this time, Atlanta residents are encouraged to stay in place. Residents can leave their homes to perform “Essential Activities”, including purchasing food and groceries.

Under Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ Executive Order 2020-21, “Essential Businesses” in the City of Atlanta will continue to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Essential Businesses include: grocery stores, farmers markets, farm and produce stands, supermarkets, food banks, convenience stores and other establishments engaged in the retail sale of canned food, dry goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, pet supply, fresh meats, fish, and poultry. “Essential Businesses” also include farming, livestock, and fishing.

Please follow the CDC’s recommendations if you choose to participate in an Essential Business or Activity. Stay safe, Atlanta.
